SAC 2016

For the past 30 years, the ACM Symposium on Applied Computing has been a primary gathering forum for applied computer scientists, computer engineers, software engineers, and application developers from around the world. SAC 2016 is sponsored by the ACM Special Interest Group on Applied Computing (SIGAPP), and is hosted by University of Pisa and Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna University in Pisa, Italy.

Track Description

The Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Track promotes current advances in analytical methods relying on mathematical, physical, chemical and computational models applied to biological sciences.

Conference Track Topics

Papers are solicited in, but not limited to the following areas:

  • Bioinformatics
    • Biological data analyses (e.g. exploratory and confirmatory statistical applications)
    • Biological systems visualization (e.g. chromosomes, genes, proteins, metabolites)
    • Comparative genomics
    • Gene identification and annotation: algorithms, models, analysis
    • Methods for integrative biology (e.g. data integration from multi-assay genomic experiments for epigenomics, genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics)
    • Structure and sequence analysis: DNA, RNA, genes, proteins (alignment algorithms, analytic pipelines, mapping)
  • Computational biology
    • Bio computing
    • Mathematical modeling
    • Molecular dynamics in biology
    • Omics: genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, analytical models of systems
    • Predicting functional structures
    • Population genetics
  • Systems biology
    • Computational drug screening
    • Evolutionary dynamics
    • Gene, protein and metabolic networks: inference, modeling, simulation
    • Metagenomics: algorithms, models, pipelines
    • Network biology and knowledge inference
    • Synthetic biology

Notice for authors

Paper registration is required, allowing the inclusion of the paper/poster in the conference proceedings. An author or a proxy attending SAC MUST present the paper. This is a requirement for the paper/poster to be included in the ACM/IEEE digital library. No-show of scheduled papers and posters will result in excluding them from the ACM/IEEE digital library.
